This is our Term 3 theme and as decided last term will include some animation. We have much to discuss, negotiate and decide. It will be another exciting theme I’m sure.

This is a search of the word ‘animation’ in teachertube.com
It is this term’s spring board.
Please remember, stay safe and savvy, share your learning (comment/use your own blogs) and have fun! Cheers, Al

Why is Web 2 Important to Education? Al Upton 2 MB Nov, 2006
[this file has now been 'embedded' into this blog]
Stored on box.net – a free storage site http://www.box.net/
Upload your mp3 (sound file) – perhaps use audacity
To get the link, click the file in box.net and copy the url (address at the top of the player)
You can also paste in the public link
(IE visitors to your blog can link across to box.net to listen to recording/podcast)
http://www.box.net/shared/qd1kz42r6g
BUT this technique is likely to be blocked/filtered in SA government schools. This means you will need to upload and embed the files away from your site. It is possible for a site administrator to unblock sites at the local level but I do not promote this.
In the editor (when you write a post or a page) there is an icon with an ‘A’ on it. This is for embedding (copy and paste) the URL of different media files such as You Tube, Google, Metacafe, iFilm etc – not all are recognised but it’s worth a try – very quick, easy and powerful. NB You do this in the Visual editor (not Code) but will see code until you save the post or page.

And here is another great blogger (a teacher) from just down the road.
This is Graham Wegners professional blog. Here he communicates with other educators. Graham, has worked very hard on (and is very proud of) creating his network.
Check it out!

Best of all, this Year Graham (Mr Wegner) has started a Year 6 class blog. With all his experience it’s bound to be terrific. Check it out and perhaps leave a comment. See if you can find any Year 3 classes blogging at his school. Perhaps we could meet up one day!

Look at the way networks can happen! – well, just one important bit of it anyway
Here is the blog of the Assistant Headmaster (Tom Barrett) of the school in the last post – Priestsic Primary. He is helping set up blogs for his school like I am (with your help) for all of our school.
Here is his class blog – Years 5/6. http://priestsic6.learnerblogs.org/
Here is his wiki with a lot of other blogging examples and resources. http://classroomblogging.wikispaces.com/
Tom lives on the other side of the world – England.
His dad lives just up the road from us! ![]()
I know this because Tom contacted me suggesting our school/class blogs connect up.
He asked for some pictures of our school so here are some Virtual Earth maps from last year.
Here is the blog of a teacher who is helping organise class blogs on the wiki Tom created. [We could go to this page and add how we organise our blogging.]
John Johnstone is also a well known class blogger. Here is the blog for classes at his school.
http://www.sandaigprimary.co.uk/pivot/index.php
John lives in a different country to Tom. I would like to go to Scotland one day.
I last went to Sydney for a Global Summit (conference) and met another amazing educator also called John – John Connell. He said I should get in touch with John Johnstone. He thought it would be a good idea for our classes to read and comment on each others blogs. This John (who also lives in Scotland) has a wonderful list of blogs around the world.
I met John through a mutual friend Judy O’Connell a very famous Australian blogger!
[We need to ask him to update the link to our new 2007 blog.]
I’m trying to get a list of class blogs connected at ‘create, connect – blog’ and hope to have some lists and links in the ‘blog’ pages.
So there is so much happening out there and I teach a class with so many good ideas (and I have a few of my own) … perhaps I should get networking!
Perhaps WE should get networking!
Sandaig Otters – Scotland
The AllStars – What country are they from? What year level?
Check out their ‘fake fact’ writing – leave a comment?
Here is the All Stars Blogroll – what do you notice?
The AllStars teacher is Kim Pericles. I remember when she started blogging and chatting to her at the Global Summit in Sydney. She has recently returned from the UK after meeting some of the people above in person.
Networks are often already there – you just have to make the connections. :D
